The Embassy of Japan in Solomon Islands is seeking for a highly motivated Solomon Islander to fulfill the position of a Grassroots Coordinator.

Points to Note:
-This position is offered under an independent contractor agreement, which means that this is different from Embassy’s regular recruitment for locally employed staff.
-The contract fee will be determined based on your qualifications, skills, and relevant professional experience.
-The contract fee will be paid on a monthly basis upon submission of a monthly activity report outlining the work completed during the reporting period.
-As this is an independent contractor arrangement, overtime pay and paid leave are not provided. However, provided that you carry out your duties satisfactorily and submit your monthly activity report, you will have the flexibility to determine your own working hours and work location.
-If the contract between the Embassy and the contractor is concluded, it shall remain in effect until the end of March 2027 and may be renewed, subject to mutual agreement, for a maximum total period of three years.

Responsible for all work related to the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP).

- to receive applications and manage data related to applications,
- to technically review applications,
- to facilitate the implementation of ongoing projects,
- to monitor past and ongoing projects,
- to contact and consult with GGP applicants and implementing organizations, and
- to prepare reports
Specific project-related tasks:
- to conduct preliminary field surveys,
- to conduct monitoring surveys in the field and monitor the projects (e.g. progress monitoring, mid-term monitoring and confirmation of completion of the projects),
- to conduct follow-up surveys in the field on the completed projects,
- to assist organizing the ceremonies (e.g. signing ceremonies for grant contracts, inauguration ceremonies, etc.), and
- to collect other information related to the GGP.
Requirements:
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Excellent knowledge in using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent financial management capacity
- Previous experience in project management and financial management would be an advantage.
Qualities:
- Must be self-motivated and self-disciplined
- Must be able to work in a team
- Must possess good public relations and communication skills
