Four JICA Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers finish their 2-year term and return to Japan!
On 30th July, four JICA volunteers, who spent two intense years working for the development of Solomon Islands, paid a courtesy call on Ambassador HIGUCHI before returning home. They are finally departing for Japan this week (the first week of August). Here is a look at their wonderful journey, walking alongside the people of Solomon Islands in their respective fields(In the accompanying photo, from left):
During their conversation with the Ambassador, the four volunteers reported on the valuable experiences and achievements gained through their two years of activities, as well as the challenges they occasionally faced and how they overcame them. Ambassador HIGUCHI offered his highest praise and heartfelt gratitude for the achievements of the volunteers those of who worked earnestly for Solomon Islands in an environment, culture, and society different from Japan.
To the four volunteers who fulfilled their respective roles and ran through unfamiliar lands, thank you truly for your hard work over the past two years.
The time you shared with your friends in Solomon Islands and the irreplaceable experiences you gained there will surely become a great source of strength in your new stages back in Japan.

- Tourism Promotion: Ms Chigasaki worked tirelessly at the Tourism Solomons to draw out local appeal and develop the tourism industry.
- Healthcare: Ms Yasunaga worked as a nurse at Gizo Hospital in Western Province, providing high-quality services while closely supporting patients on the front lines of medical care.
- Forest Resources: Mr Takada engaged in activities related to the marketing and sustainable utilization of forest resources at the Ministry of Forestry and Research.
- Educational Administration: Ms Murakami contributed to improving educational administration and school management based at the Isabel Province Education Division in Buala.
