Signing Ceremony: “Development Policy Loan for Strengthening Fiscal and Economic Resilience”

On 8th July, Japanese Ambassador H.E. Mr HIGUCHI Keiichi and Hon. Rick Nelson Houenipwela, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, signed and exchanged notes for “Development Policy Loan for Strengthening Fiscal and Economic Resilience” (project up to three billion Japanese Yen).
 
Through this financial support to the Solomon Islands government, the loan aims to strengthen fiscal and economic resilience, thereby contributing to the achievement of self-sustained and sustainable growth for Solomon Islands and the improvement of the living standards of its people.
 
At the ceremony, Ambassador HIGUCHI emphasized that this financial support would contribute to long-term benefits for the people and economy of Solomon Islands and expressed his expectation for the government to manage fiscal expenditures appropriately with transparency and accountability. In response, Minister Houenipwela expressed his gratitude to Japan and highlighted his expectations that this project would strengthen fiscal management and foster sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
