For the Health and Smiles of Children! Welcome to Our New UNICEF Officer

On 14th April, Ms Marie Yazawa, the newly appointed Nutrition Officer at UNICEF Solomon Islands, paid a courtesy call on Ambassador HIGUCHI.

Transforming the Future through "School Meals"
Ms Yazawa will be leading the field operations for the "Project for Nutritional Improvement through the School Meals in Isabel and Western Provinces." This initiative, funded by the Government of Japan’s Grant Aid, officially launched in 2025.
The project is a vital effort to support the healthy growth of children by providing nutritionally balanced school lunches, while also giving them another great reason to look forward to going to school every day.

A Warm Welcome and High Expectations During their meeting
Ms Yazawa and Ambassador HIGUCHI shared a friendly conversation about her professional career, her past activities, and her new life and work environment here in Solomon Islands. Ambassador HIGUCHI expressed his heartfelt expectations for her work, which will directly benefit the children who represent the future of this nation.

Starting a new journey in a new land is a big challenge, but we are certain that her passion and dedication will deliver the greatest gift of all—"Health"—to many children across Solomon Islands!

Welcome to Solomon Islands, Ms Yazawa. Everyone here at the Embassy is cheering you on and looking forward to your success!
