Emperor's Birthday Reception 2026

On 23rd February, Ambassador HIGUCHI hosted a reception at the Heritage Park Hotel to celebrate His Majesty the Emperor's Birthday.
We had the pleasure of welcoming around 120 guests, including Hon Wayne Osopo Ghemu, the Minister of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology, Hon Cathy Nori, the Minister of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs, government officials from various government entities such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, members of the diplomatic corps, provincial governors, and representatives from Japanese companies and organizations active in Solomon Islands, to celebrate His Majesty the Emperor's 66th birthday.
Following the national anthems of both countries, Ambassador HIGUCHI expressed his congratulations on His Majesty the Emperor's 66th birthday and touched upon JICA's unwavering contributions to Solomon Islands thus far, stating his aspiration to focus on youth support more than ever. Then, we received a speech and a toast from Hon Wayne Osopo Ghemu, the Minister of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology.
Inside the venue, local staff dressed in yukata and happi, welcomed the guests, while Japanese sake and other Japanese products such as Japanese whiskies were served. In addition, traditional Japanese toys were displayed, and videos introducing Japanese culture were shown. It served as a wonderful opportunity for everyone to experience the charm of Japan.
