Interlocking Block Paving (IBP) Project (Day 1)

The tour visited the Interlocking Block Paving (IBP) site, a result of Japanese technical cooperation. In Malaita, where road infrastructure remains a challenge, IBP was introduced as a pilot project on the access road to Auki Primary School. The school principal and teachers reported that the road condition remains excellent even during heavy rain, significantly improving school access. Notably, the transfer of IBP technology has been so successful that the Solomon Islands is now capable of implementing IBP projects independently.
