Handover Ceremony: “The Project for the Procurement of Secondhand Ambulance for the Fauabu Rural Health Clinic” under Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects

On 18th February 2026, a handover ceremony took place at Kilu’ufi Hospital for “The Project for the Procurement of Secondhand Ambulance for the Fauabu Rural Health Clinic”, funded under the Government of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project.
 
Through this initiative, a high-quality, reconditioned Japanese ambulance has been delivered to the Fauabu Clinic.

This vital addition will enable the rapid and safe transportation of patients in Fauabu and its surrounding communities, significantly strengthening the regional emergency medical system and ensuring timely access to life-saving treatment.

In his keynote address, Ambassador HIGUCHI extended his sincere gratitude to all stakeholders whose dedication brought this project to fruition. He emphasized the importance of sustainable management and maintenance of the vehicle, highlighting the profound impact the ambulance is expected to have on the health and well-being of the Fauabu community.
Representing the community, Fr Molyneux Nofa, Secretary of the Anglican Diocese of Malaita, expressed his profound appreciation to the Government and people of Japan. He noted that the new ambulance represents a major milestone in improving healthcare access for local residents and expressed great optimism for the enhanced emergency services now available to the communities.
