On the 10th Anniversary of Embassy Establishment January 2026
2026/1/1
Happy New Year to you all.
It has been a year now since I started my job as Ambassador on 9 January 2025, and this January also marks a decade of our Embassy’s presence in Honiara, as it was upgraded to Embassy from a consular office in January of 2016.
In the past year, I have been blessed with many happy encounters with the people of Solomon Islands, whether in governments, businesses, schools, NGOs, international organisations, or local communities. Among such encounters, the most memorable ones took place outside Honiara, where I came face-to-face with the local cultures and traditions.
Yet, I still feel I have a lot more to learn and many more places to visit so that I can better appreciate what Solomon Islands has to offer, and to understand where Japan has the advantage in the context of putting into use the right set of skills and resources Japan has to offer towards improving the well-being of Solomon Islands.
In addition, as I wrote one year ago, I would like to make further efforts in encouraging the people living in various provinces of the Solomon Islands to get interested in Japan and learn about Japan.
So, please help me achieve these goals and I look forward to many more happy encounters.
