On September 3, 2025, the official handover ceremony for the Grant Aid for the Economic and Social Development Programme, "Solar Streetlights," was held at the Ministry of Mines, Electricity and Rural Electrification (MMERE). The ceremony was attended by representatives from both sides, including Ambassador Higuchi Keiichi from Japan and, from the Solomon Islands, Deputy Secretary of MMERE Mr. Christopher Hunupauro, Ms. Delilah Homelo, CEO of Solomon Power, and other staff from MMERE and Solomon Power.

Ambassador Higuchi stated, "The solar streetlights provided through this project address the energy challenges facing Solomon Islands, such as limited electricity access, high costs due to reliance on diesel fuel, and vulnerability to climate change, and will strengthen the partnership between both nations."
DS Mr. Hunupauro expressed his gratitude to the Japanese government for its support, stating that this project benefits the communities and enhances the energy security.
It is expected that this project will contribute to Solomon Islands securing sustainable energy that is environmentally friendly and more resilient to natural disasters.
