On 7 March, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Solomon Islands, H.E. Mr. Keiichi Higuchi, Ambassador of Japan to Solomon Islands, and Hon. Peter Shanel AGOVAKA, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Solomon Islands, signed and exchanged notes for "the Project for the Improvement of the Kilu’ufi Hospital". The signing ceremony was attended by Hon. Paul Popora BOSAWAI, Minister for Health and Medical Services as well.
This project was signed in June 2023, for the provision of a grant up to 2.011 billion yen. However, the grant has now been revised to 2.367 billion yen with an additional grant of 356 million yen due to a shortage of funds caused by recent price hikes and rapid exchange rate fluctuations.
This project contributes to improving healthcare services in Malaita Province, which has the largest population in Solomon Islands. The additional grant will be used for the procurement of medical equipments at the hospital."
