Handing-over Ceremony for “The Project for Construction of School Building for Numbu Community High School” under Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects

On November 15, a handing-over ceremony for the “The Project for Construction of School Building for Numbu Community High School” was held in Numbu community, Guadalcanal Province. The ceremony was attended by Ambassador H.E. Yoshiaki MIWA, representatives from MEHRD, Guadalcanal Provincial Government, the school principal and staffs, students, community members, and many others involved in the project. A great deal of gratitude toward Japan was expressed during the event.
Under this grant aid program, the Government of Japan fund worth up to US$79,838 (about 648,000 Solomon Islands dollars) for the construction of school building for Numbu Community High School.
The establishment of this new school building is expected not only to improve the educational environment at the school but also contribute to the enhancement of the quality of basic education in the region.
Ambassador H.E. Yoshiaki MIWA expressed his gratitude to all those involved in the successful completion of the project and conveyed his hope that the learning taking place in the new school building will contribute to the future development of the Solomon Islands.
