Handing Over Ceremony of “The Project Construction of Classroom Building for Ilia Community High School” under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP)

Official handing over ceremony for “The Project Construction of Classroom Building for Ilia Community High School” was held in Gilbert Camp, Guadalcanal Province on the 2nd of October 2023.
The Government of Japan fund worth up to US$79,838 for the construction of classroom building for Ilia Community High School. This assistance will enable the school to provide appropriate learning environment to students and it will contribute to the socio-economic development of Solomon Islands through giving children opportunities for quality education.
Ambassador MIWA Yoshiaki mentioned that “Solomon Islands have the best environment throughout the year that supports facilitation of teaching and learning. I encourage teachers of Ilia to take advantage of this wonderful environment of teaching and learning and bring out the best of your learners.” In his remarks. Mr. Ray Menia, the principal of Illia Community High School said in his remarks, “We are truly honored and proud to see the completion of this project. This is a huge achievement and milestone for the latch community near Ilia Community High School. I really appreciate generous support of Japan and I believe this building will be remembered as a symbol of the friendship between the two peoples of Japan and Solomon Islands for many years to come.”
