Handing Over Ceremony of “The Project for Provision of Generator for Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation” under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP)

On 28th of October, Ambassador Yoshiaki MIWA and Mr. Johnson HONIMAE, CEO, SIBC, SIBC Board Chairman, Board members also attended the handing over ceremony for “The Project for Provision of Generator for Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation” in SIBC’s compound, Rove, Honiara.
 
The Government of Japan provided fund worth up to US$70,075 for the provision of a new generator for SIBC. This assistance will enable SIBC to provide public broadcasting services stably and continuously even during emergencies such as natural disasters, thereby enhancing information transmission.
 
Ambassador MIWA said in his remarks, “Stable operation of public broadcasting such as SIBC is essential to maintain social life and equally important to develop our society. Broadcasting provides education, entertainment, culture and things people can access these kinds of activities” and CEO said in his remarks, “We are truly honored to witness the handover of an important equipment added to infrastructure of SIBC, allowing us to continue broadcasting important information during a national disaster and I believe that this generator will be remembered as a symbol of the friendship between the two peoples of Japan and Solomon Islands for many years to come”.
