Ambassador Miwa’s attendance to the memorial ceremony of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Guadalcanal

On 7th and 8th August, Ambassador Miwa participated in memorial ceremony of the the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Guadalcanal with Mr. Oniki, State Minister for Defense, Mr. Yamazaki, Chief of Staff, Mr. Saito, Deputy Chief of Maritime Staff, and other delegations during their visit to Solomon Islands. The memorial ceremonies were hosted by US Government(U.S. Memorial Park), Solomon Scouts and Coastwatchers Trust Board(Commonwealth St.), US Coast Guard(Yacht Club), Japanese Government(Japanese Memorial Park) and Solomon Islands Government(Bloody Ridge).
At the memorial ceremony hosted by Japanese Government, Ambassador Miwa and State Minister of Defense Mr. Oniki delivered a speech in Japanese to directly convey their condolences to the war dead.
