Ambassador Miwa paid a Courtesy call on Prime Minister Sogavare

On May 30, Ambassador Miwa paid a courtesy call on Hon. Manasseh SOGAVARE, Prime Minister of Solomon Islands.
At the beginning of the call, Prime Minister Sogavare stated that Japan has been consistently supporting Solomon Islands in social and economic development since its independence. Japan has provided supports to the fields of infrastructure, health care, and education, which have been important fields for the development of Solomon Islands.
The Prime Minister explained that Solomon Islands and Japan has been keeping good relation in the international issues and Solomon Islands has been supporting Japan’s position in international issues, and touched upon the security cooperation framework treaty with China.
In response, Ambassador Miwa expressed his desire to cooperate with Solomon Islands for further development of the friendly relations between the two countries and reiterated his concerns over the security treaty with China.
