The legacy of the battle of the Guadalcanal  still has remained as a great risk to the people of Solomon Islands for 80 years. Since the battle, many of the area in Solomon Islands have been heavily contaminated with UXO even today. Therefore, it is very urgent and important  to prevent further tragic incidents caused by and related to remaining UXO. The program aims to enhance the EOD’s capacity to respond to UXO by supporting purchase of a wide range of equipment such as vehicles, boats, and containers, and it will contribute to not only ensure the safety of the people of Solomon Islands, but also aid socio-economic development of rural areas of this country.
