Two categories of Japanese Government Scholarship 2022 are now open.

   The Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture (MEXT) of the Government of Japan offers scholarships to international students who wish to study at Japanese universities.
 

1  Specialized Training College Students

  Those who are enrolled in a postsecondary course at a specialized training college, or who are receiving preparatory education in the Japanese language and other subjects prior to placement at the specialized training college.


Qualifications & Conditions

・Nationality: Must be a Solomon Islander.
・Age: Must be born on or after April 2nd, 1997.
・Academic Background; Must have completed 12 years of schooling or completed studies at a school equivalent to a Japanese upper secondary school.
・Japanese language: Must be willing to learn the Japanese language and culture.

Following all document (original) must be submitted to the Embassy of Japan in Solomon Islands.
(Please also submit one (1) set of all document copy.)

(1) Application Form
      (Please make sure to use the 2022 Application Form.)
(2) Academic transcript(s)
      Form 4 – 6 of school(s) attended
      A transcript issued either by the university attended or by the applicant's national government.
      Those who currently study at university also need to submit high school (Form 4-6) academic   transcripts.

(3) Certificate(s) of graduation of school attended
      (If the applicant has not yet graduated, submit a certificate of prospective graduation from the school.)
(4) Recommendation letter from either a class teacher or principal of last school attended
      (Free format. A sample format is available.)
(5) Medical certificate
      (Please make sure to use the FY2022 certificate form.)
(6) Certificate of enrollment
      (*Only for those currently enrolled in a university.)
(7) Certificate of university enrollment qualification examination
      (*Only for those who pass the university enrollment qualification examination.)
(8) Certificate of language proficiency
      (*Only in case the applicant has documents attesting to competency in Japanese or English)

Selection Schedule

(1) Deadline for Application: Application forms should be delivered to the Embassy of Japan in Solomon Islands Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 4:00pm.
*Incomplete application forms will not be accepted. All necessary documents need to be submitted before the deadline.
(2) Written Examinations: Late June, 2021 in Honiara
Selected applicants will be informed of the time of examinations and interview by 22nd June. 
(3) Interview: Early July, 2021 in Honiara



Research Students  

   Those who are enrolled in a master’s course, a doctoral course, or a professional graduate course at a graduate school, or who are conducting research in a specialized field at an undergraduate department, graduate school, institute attached to a university, etc. without the aim of completing the course, or who are receiving preparatory education in the Japanese language and other subjects prior to placement at the university, etc.

Qualifications & Conditions

・Nationality: Must be a Solomon Islander.
・Age: Must be born on or after April 2nd, 1997.
・Academic Background; Must have completed 12 years of schooling or completed studies at a school equivalent to a Japanese upper secondary school.
・Japanese language: Must be willing to learn the Japanese language and culture.

(6) Medical certificate
     (Please make sure to use the FY2022 certificate form.)
(7) Abstracts of theses
     (Submit if the applicant has written theses.)
(8) Certificate of language proficiency
     (*Only in case the applicant has documents attesting to competency in Japanese or English)
(9) Recommendation letter from the present employer
     (Submit if the applicant is currently employed. A sample format is available.)
(10)Photograph(s) showing applicant's own works of art or a digitally recorded media of musical performance
    (Submit if the applicant is to major in fine arts or music.)

Selection Schedule
