Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects Handing Over Ceremony of ‘The Project for the Development of Water Supply System in Aitolo Community, Malaita Province’

On 3rdth April, 2024, a Handing Over Ceremony for ‘The Project for the Development of Water Supply System in Aitolo Community, Malaita Province’ was held in Central Kwara'ae District of Malaita Province. The ceremony was attended by community representatives. Many words of appreciation to the Japanese Government were given by them.
The Government of Japan supported Aitolo Community through grant assistance amounting to USD30,005(Approximately 253,700SBD)for the installation of new water supply systems to rehabilitate the decrepit systems.
Through the project, serious shortage of drinking water and domestic water will be alleviated for 12 households/ 120 residents of the community and their health and hygiene will be improved. Furthermore, it is expected to be freed to bring water to their respective houses which was mainly tasked for particularly women and children.
Speaking at the occasion, H.E. MIWA Yoshiaki, Ambassador of Japan made special appreciation to the Aitolo community and local authorities who spared no effort to see the project to fruition. It was also emphasized to maintain these facilities well so that the systems remain in good working condition for years to come.
