Handing Over Ceremony at MMERE; the provision of laboratory equipment for geoscientific research under the Economic and Social Development Programme
2024/2/8
On February 8, 2024, the official handing over ceremony for the provision of laboratory equipment for geoscientific research was held at the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification (hereinafter MMERE).
At this handover ceremony, a Pickup Truck, a Carbon and Sulfur Analyzer and a Gas Chromatograph were provided to MMERE as a part of the grant programme.
Ambassador MIWA Yoshiaki mentioned that “This project will contribute to the development of mineral resources in Solomon Islands as well as the control of geohazard. Furthermore, it will strengthen our partnership between Solomon Island and Japan.”
PS Dr. Christopher Vehe mentioned in his remarks that “These equipment pave the way for enhanced collaboration, research, and development, so I extend our heartfelt thanks to the Japanese government for their generous donation.”
The project is expected to enhance the geological survey capacity of the MMERE and contribute to industrial development and disaster prevention through better analysis of the geology of Solomon Islands.
