Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2023 (Teacher Training Students) – NOW OPEN

MEXT offers scholarships to teachers outside of Japan who wish to conduct research on school or education institution at designated Japanese universities as, "Teacher Training Students" under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program.

Available to teachers under 35, who have graduated from a University or Teachers' College and have 5 years+ of teaching experience.
 
  • This scholarship is offered to teachers of primary school, high school or college level who have a total period of five years or more of teaching experience as of 1 October 2023. (Tertiary teachers are not eligible to apply).
  • The term of scholarship is only for the period required to complete the course and must occur between October 2023 and March 2025.
  • Applicants must assure that they return to their home country by the end of the final month of the scholarship period and resume their work as a teacher.
  • Applicants must be born on or after 2nd April 1988 and must hold a Solomon Island citizenship.
  • Applicants must have graduated from university or teacher training college.
  • Applicants are required to take Japanese and English exams and must demonstrate a sufficient level of Japanese language ability to be able to receive research guidance in Japanese.
  • Language examinations will take place on Wednesday 15th  February 2023.
  • Those who pass the exams, will be asked to attend an interview on Friday 24th  February 2023.
  • Benefits include return airfares and an allowance of ¥143,000 per month (Subject to change).
  • Hard-copy application documents must arrive at the Embassy of Japan by 4PM on Wednesday 1st  February 2023.
