Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2022 (Teacher Training Students) – NOW OPEN

MEXT offers scholarships to teachers outside of Japan who wish to conduct research on school education at designated Japanese universities as "Teacher Training Students" under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program.

Available to teachers under 35, who have graduated from a University or Teachers' College and have 5 years+ of teaching experience.
·       This scholarship is offered to teachers of primary school, high school or college level who have a total period of five years or more of teaching experience as of 1 October 2022. (Tertiary teachers are not eligible to apply).
·       The term of scholarship is only for the period required to complete the course and must occur between October 2022 and March 2024.
·       Applicants must assure that they return to their home country by the end of the final month of the scholarship period and resume their work as a teacher.
·       Applicants must have been born on or after 2 April 1987 and must hold Solomon Island citizenship.
·       Applicants must have graduated from university or teacher training college.
·       Applicants are required to take Japanese and English exams and must demonstrate a sufficient level of Japanese language ability to be able to receive research guidance in Japanese.
·       Language examinations will take place on Tuesday 22 February 2022.
·       Those who pass the exams may be asked to attend an interview on Monday 28 February 2022.
·       Benefits include return airfares and an allowance of ¥143,000 per month (Subject to change).
·       Hard-copy application documents must arrive at the Embassy of Japan by 4PM on Thursday 10 February 2022.
